Calvin Ayre Sees Antigua To Benefit From Bitcoin in iGaming

A business process outsourcing (BPO) industry leaning toward Bitcoin use in online gaming will highlight Antigua and Barbuda’s economic progress, said business mogul Calvin Ayre.

Ayre, who is currently based in Antigua and is the founder of the Bodog brand, is a self-confessed supporter of Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Pushing these through investments in transforming the country to a BPO hub will reap benefits on a global scale. He was quoted saying:

“I see a growing convergence to bitcoin online gaming…and progressive countries like Antigua are poised to take advantage of this convergence by developing a truly global service industry.”

He already made the first move as the construction for his $25 million call center was already formalized recently, and he is calling on other local and foreign investors to help create an industry that could potentially put Antigua on the map of the iGaming industry.

Antigua will benefit from rise of Bitcoin in online gaming

Bitcoin gambling continues to move forward as Bitcoin is no longer constrained to Bitcoin-only gambling sites. Some online casinos, sportsbooks, and poker rooms initially running on fiat payments only have recently opened their doors to integrate Bitcoin payments.

Bodog, for example, has already started accepting Bitcoin deposits in Q3 2016. Its sister brands like Bovada, Ignition Casino, and Slots.lv, as well as the Australian-focused Joe Fortune Casino, are also known to be friendly to players wishing to play using the cryptocurrency.

The trend of accepting Bitcoin payments keeps on in the iGaming industry, and this shows positive signs that Bitcoin will be a strong factor in the online gaming scene in the years to come.

This development will result in major online gaming companies opening BPO operations in other countries, and Antigua and Barbuda could be one of them, according to Ayre.

He cited the similar case in Manila, Philippines, which is now home to several online gaming companies’ BPO operations. Calvin Ayre was among the pioneers in the Philippine BPO industry that caters services to the iGaming sector. This is exactly how he envisions Antigua to be once his latest project will be completed by 2018, which would have created 150 construction jobs and is expected to provide 800 professional jobs.

Bodog to set example for online gaming companies

With already more than 20 years in the entertainment business, Bodog is now a household name in the iGaming sector. It offers sports betting, casino games, horse races, and poker tournaments. After the integration early this year, all these betting platforms are open to Bitcoin deposits.

This new set-up opens the gambling site to more markets, whose players have limited access to the conventional payment methods. It also provides a user-friendlier process that promises easier and faster payments.

The step taken by Bodog and its sister brands forward in the online gaming industry strengthens Bitcoin’s bid to become more relevant in the iGaming sector. And this can launch optimistic results toward other industries, one of which is the BPO sector in the works in Antigua and Barbuda.
