Crypto Mining Software Lets You Earn Bitcoin From Laptop

A new cryptocurrency mining application has been launched, designed to let those using a Windows laptop mine small quantities of cryptocurrencies in exchange for bitcoin value.

Honeyminer aims to take users back to the early days of cryptocurrency, where there was much less processing power required to mine for cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

The app runs on a standard laptop configuration, and mines for cryptocurrencies like ethereum, monero and zcash as a background process. When users complete their session, their mined crypto is converted automatically, and they’re paid the equivalent in BTC.

The brainchild of a New Jersey-based startup, Honeyminer was launched in beta back in June. Since then, the software has already secured more than 10,000 downloads worldwide.

The app effectively links users to a global mining pool, and relies on using the graphics processing unit in the background. Only excess capacity is used, so the app only mines when the GPU isn’t otherwise busy rendering images or video.

Honeyminer advisor Noah Jessop said the app made it easy for anyone to mine cryptocurrencies from their surplus computer power.

“The miner doesn’t have to do the math or manage all the configurations and settings, or manually check the prices…We make it so that any surplus compute, so any laptop you aren’t using all the way up to a rig that you run is automatically doing the most profitable computation.”

“If you hear about crypto and you want to learn, you can either go out and pay real cash money, Or you can download a program in 30 seconds and start earning your own crypto, for free.”

Depending on the user’s hardware, Honeyminer takes a cut of between 2.5 and 8% of the total amount mined. The app is aimed at users who might be interested in cryptocurrency, but lack the expertise or resources to build their own dedicated setup.

The app is the latest to be launched for cryptocurrency consumers, as ever increasing numbers learn more about cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

For the amateur or hobbyist miner, or for anyone interested in monetising their unused processing power, Honeyminer could provide an easy introduction to the world of cryptocurrency.
