Fatima Moreira de Melo
A Dutch poker player with Portuguese descent, Fatima Moreio de Melo is one of the world’s upcoming female poker players. Originally a hockey player, she helped lead her team to several world championships and was voted as Rotterdam Sportswoman of the Year in 2006. She has recently decided to face a new challenge. Nowadays, Fatima is a member of Team PokerStars. She has recently become a permanent fixture on the European poker scene and beyond. She has shown off here skills on the European Poker Tour (EPT) and at the Master Classics of Poker. Many are saying that she will eventually win a major title soon.
Liv Boeree
Born in Kent, England, Liv Boeree graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Astrophysics. Introduced to poker as part of the reality TV show Ultimatepoker.com Showdown, she slowly became a fixture in the poker world as she joined more and more poker tournaments. Her first noticeable win was back when she won the 2008 Ladbrokes European Ladies Championships for $30,000. She has gone on to participate in the World Series of Poker, cashing in 10 times, with her best performance in 2012 where she won €26,611. She has become one of Europe’s top poker players and has total live tournament winnings exceeding $3 million.
Kara Scott
Kara Scott started out as a media personality hosting shows dedicated to backgammon and poker. However, she managed to break in to the professional poker scene by joining various celebrity tournaments. Her first major win was in 2008, when she won the PartyPoker Sports Star Challenge. Since then, Scott has become a solid poker player with total live poker tournament winnings exceeding half a million dollars. She has also kept hosting and being active in the poker community, being the face of several poker brands.
Tiffany Michelle
Tiffany Michelle is more than a pretty face. An actress based out of California, she fell into playing poker while in between auditions. Her interest in poker quickly led to hosting jobs for various poker events. Since then, Tiffany has played in a range of casino tournaments, World Poker Tour events, and World Series of Poker Events. Her best performance was back in the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event. She managed to get close enough to become part of the final table. However, she busted out in 17th place, though a $334,535 payday is consolation enough.
Jennifer Leigh
Jennifer Leigh is the perfect example of the new poker playing public. Starting from $5 online poker tournaments to playing in $100/$200 limit hold’em cash games, she has moved seamlessly between online and offline poker worlds. Best known for playing online poker at PokerStars under the screen name “Jennicide,” She has quickly become a well-known player with tournament winnings exceeding $60,000 in live play and $100,000 on online tourneys.
Tatjana Pasalic
Croatian-born Tatjana Pasalic is responsible for the kicking off a poker boom in Croatia, with her videos making her the face of the local community. Since then, she has presented poker events worldwide and has signed up with several brands to be their reporter and host. Besides presenting, she has participated in poker events all over the world, with her best performance being in the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2013, reaching Day 2 for the third consecutive year.
Beth Shak
Beth Shak started out playing online in Full Tilt Poker, with play money, to learn the ropes. Since then she has come a long way, having won three Word Series of Poker final tables and has thirteen tournament cashes to her name. This puts her among the top percentile of the Women’s All Time Money List. Her other noticeable win was when she finished in the top 30 out of over 500 players in the European Poker Tour season 5 results. Her live total tournament winnings now exceed half a million dollars.
Maria Ho
Maria Ho was introduced to playing poker in college. When she graduated, she had started playing low limit games and progressed to high-stakes cash games. Once she had a solid bankroll, she started her pro poker playing career. Her first major tournament success was at the 2007 World Series of Poker where she was the last woman remaining in the Championship Event. This earned her a $237,865 payday. Since then she has become a solid part of the poker playing scene.
